This ultra rare pair of gold and silver vintage sake cups are from 1972 when Sapporo hosted the 11th Winter Olympics. These cups have their original wooden boxes with official Olympic paper stamps attached. There is a protective colored cloth in each box as well.
The gold cup is 24 Karat Gold Plated (see photos for stamping marks)
The silver cup is Silver Plated (see photos for stamping marks)
Each sake cup measures 7.5 cm across (about 3") and 2.5 cm tall (about 1") The inside of each cup has a nice brushed finish while the outside surfaces are smooth and shiny.
The silver cup has not been used. There are a few tiny, minor age discoloration specks but they would likely clean out well.
The gold cup has had a lot of age discoloration as you can see by the photo. We believe it would be able to clean up nicely if the correct cleaning method is used.
napaJapan is based in Sapporo and we were able to procure them from a single owner in the city. These would make a wonderful Olympic collection piece.
If you are to use them for drinking sake, please be sure to wash and clean them well first.
